Six years ago, The Cooking Guild was founded with a simple vision: to create knives that were not just tools but companions for chefs, cooks, and creators in the kitchen. Our mission has always been clear: to forge working blades for working people, crafted with precision, honor, and integrity.
Now, as we mark our 6th year in business, we return to our roots. The knife that built our legacy, the Bushcraft Series, is being honoured with a blade that pushes our craft to new heights: the Limited Edition 101-Layer Damascus Bunka Knife.
Why the Bunka Knife?
Among traditional Japanese knives, the Bunka stands out as a true multitasker. Recognized by its distinctive K-tip blade, the Bunka combines razor-sharp precision with everyday versatility. From clean vegetable slices to precise meat prep, it delivers control in every cut.
For our anniversary release, we chose the Bunka to embody both our past and our future. This is a hand forged Japanese knife that is practical, beautiful, and deeply symbolic of our journey.
The Steel That Tells the Story
This 7-inch Bunka is forged from 101 layers of Damascus steel, featuring a 1095 high-carbon steel core clad in 420 stainless steel.
-
The high-carbon core ensures razor-sharp edge retention and cutting power.
-
The stainless cladding adds resilience, durability, and corrosion resistance.
-
The 2mm thin spine gives unmatched slicing precision while keeping the blade light and agile.
At only 170 grams, this Bunka offers a perfect balance of control and comfort. It is lightweight while still carrying the strength of its layered steel construction.
A Handle with Heritage
To complement the Damascus blade, we chose a handle carved from rosewood. It is timeless, durable, and naturally balanced. Its warmth and grain reflect tradition, while the full tang construction ensures strength from tip to handle.
Together, the blade and handle create a knife that is not only functional but also a piece of art. It represents the philosophy at the heart of our craft: Blades With Honor.
Limited Edition for Collectors and Cooks
The Guild 6th Anniversary Bunka is more than just a kitchen tool. It is a collector’s piece, a knife that tells the story of our beginnings while marking how far we have come.
Only a limited number of these knives will ever be released. Once they are gone, they will never be forged again.
